Tag Archives: getting into coveted grad programs

It’s that time of year again.

…and we are pleased to announce that Cindy Shmerman is officially accepting applications for our 2011 summer internship program! Our brand is constantly innovating, and so we are looking for a crop of interns who are constantly on the edge of cool. Many of our interns have gone on to work for such sought-after brands/employers as MoMA PS1, The Washington Post, The Getty Museum, Sub Pop Records, Jezebel, Teen Vogue, The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, and Ina Garten. By the end of the summer, most of our interns will acquire the skills necessary to break into the competitive world of online blogging.

Attention to detail and previous experience in the field of cultural criticism are a must. (A reading knowledge of French and German is preferred.) To apply, please submit a short answer to each of the following questions along with an updated resume (including references!), a short writing sample (please limit to 800 words), and a cover letter to cindyshmerman@shmerman.com. Unfortunately, while we cannot pay our interns, we do provide a stipend that should cover adequate housing in a borough for the summer months. We look forward to meeting you!

1. Why do you want to work for Cindy Shmerman? (In other words: Why Shmerman? Why now?)

2. Identify a pop cultural icon or recent phenomenon and discuss how zhe/it will reshape the culture industry and the shape of our identities.

3.  Describe an individual or experience that has influenced your perception of the bloguosphere.
